How did a Pokemon GO fan save the life of a lost 83-year-old grandfather?

01 Jan 1970

This amazing story took place in Covington, Kentucky. It all started with Allison Simpson Hines playing Pokemon Go, making her daily raid on the points where there are Pokemons. On one of the points, not far from the city park, she noticed an old man in a Navy cap. Allison smiled at him since she had served in the Navy, but the old man didn't respond to the smile and clearly didn't understand what was happening at all. He looked confused, just turned, and walked off into the distance. His behavior seemed very strange to Hines.

According to Allison, she immediately understood that something was wrong. The woman stopped the car and approached the old man, and from his first words, Allison realized that it was good that she approached him. He didn't understand what was going on. At first, he said that his wife should come for him, then that he was waiting for an ambulance. In the end, after a long conversation with Allison, the man managed to remember his name - Homer Howard, phone number, and his wife's name.

Allison called Homer's family, who told her that he got lost 24 hours ago after walking near his house in Mainville. During this time, he managed to go more than 50 kilometers, crossing the border of two states! Soon Allison, along with Howard, was already waiting for his relatives at the local police station. As it turned out, the lost man was 83 years old and he suffered from dementia, so he didn't understand where he was and what was happening.

While playing Pokemon Go helped her do a good deed that day, Allison says it showed her how important it is to stay in touch with the real world, take your eyes off your smartphones and look around at other people. The woman shared her story on her Facebook page, after which her post instantly spread around the world.
