Giant pandas were discovered in the middle of the 19th century, but for the first time, it was possible to catch this animal only after about 70 years. It is interesting that at first scientists mistakenly called this animal a large raccoon. Only later did researchers use genetics to establish that the panda is a type of bear.

All pandas in the world belong to China. Until 1984, in this country, when concluding diplomatic agreements with other countries, the authorities gave pandas. Currently, China does not sell pandas, but only leases them, and the cost is very high - a million dollars a year. In this country, the law provides for the death penalty for killing a panda.

Panda likes to eat. They eat almost 14 hours a day. Therefore, adult animals weigh from 100 to 150 kilograms. Panda eats up to 30 kg of bamboo per day. If this animal is deprived of bamboo, it will inevitably die.

Living in mountainous areas, pandas sometimes climb to a height of up to 4 km above sea level in the summer to escape the heat. Unlike others, giant pandas never hibernate.

Human and panda genomes are 68% identical, and pandas and dogs are 80% identical. Even though pandas look very cute, there have been recorded cases of them attacking people. But these animals practically do not know how to run, and for a person to escape from an angry panda, most likely, will not be difficult.
