The most picturesque places on the planet where Star Wars was filmed
12 Dec 2022The locations of the Star Wars movie look just incredible! It seems that this is either computer graphics or filming was made on another planet. However, many places from the main space saga in the world are not on other planets at all. Moreover, many who dream of going there can do it!
Redwood National Park, California
Redwood National Park served as the location for the filming of the sixth episode of the Return of the Jedi saga, which took place in 1982. The American park looks so incredible that the directors decided that this is what the forested moon of Endor should look like in Star Wars. Huge redwoods grow in Redwood Park - one of the tallest and most ancient trees in the world. Until the 1850s, Native American tribes lived there.
The park is full of hiking trails. These days, walking through the park still feels like you're on set. This is especially true of the Avenue of the Giants - a scenic road that runs right through the forest.
Phang Nga Bay, Thailand
The fantastic planet Kashyyyk from Revenge of the Sith was filmed at this location. Phang Nga Bay is known for its limestone cliffs and is located near Phuket Town. This place looks simply bewitching! If you have the opportunity to visit it, then do it for sure! We are sure that you will remember this trip for a lifetime.
Royal Palace of Caserta, Italy
The most luxurious location in the first episode is the planet Naboo. The role of royal palace of Naboo is a palace in the Italian Caserta near Naples. The eminent architect of that time (18th century), Luigi Vanvitelli, was given the task of building a palace that would not be inferior to Versailles and the Royal Palace in Madrid.
If you happen to be in Naples, we advise you to visit the Royal Palace of Caserta and see for yourself how beautiful this place is. The best way to get from Naples to Caserta without a car is by bus, the journey takes 35 minutes. and will cost €1 - €7. The bus Napoli - Corso Meridionale - Caserta takes 35 minutes including transfers and departs from the station every hour.
The Rub' al Khali desert
For the new part of the saga, director Jeffrey Jacob Abrams preferred the desert of the United Arab Emirates to Tunisia. The first scene that appears in the trailer, which takes place on the planet Jakku, was filmed here.
Travelers who dream of hiding from civilization can arrange a hike in the desert, but it is still better to contact a travel agency or join a large caravan. A more relaxed option is to stay at a Liwa oasis hotel near the filming location.
Skellig Michael Island, Ireland
Filming of The Force Awakens also took place on the ruins of a 7th-century monastery located on the steep slopes of Skellig Michael Island. Although this place is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, it often scares away tourists, because it is located 12 km from the coast.
