Do eye patches really work, and how can they age your skin?

12 Dec 2022

Eye patches are one of the most popular beauty products that everyone has heard of! According to patch manufacturers, these express helpers actively nourish and restore the elasticity of the delicate skin around the eyes, successfully act against wrinkles, and help reduce puffiness and dark circles. But is it so? Let's deal with everything in order.

Selection of quality patches

Under-eye patches are one of the most active home remedies for caring for the area around the eyes. The first thing to do is to choose high-quality patches that suit your skin. You shouldn't buy cheap and bad-quality patches, because they can cause allergies and only harm your skin. The patches of good cosmetic companies contain hyaluronic acid, allantoin, glycerin, essential oils, peptides, vitamins, and many other useful ingredients that smooth fine wrinkles and visibly moisturize the skin.

Patches help to remove puffiness in the morning

This is true, but for this, you need to store the patches in the right place, namely in the refrigerator! Cooled patches work with a vengeance, and when heated, on the contrary, they lose their effect. Just 15-20 minutes with cooled patches under the eyes and your reflection in the mirror will noticeably please you!

How often can patches be used to be as effective as possible?

Some girls think that the more often they use patches, the better. However, this is a myth! It isn't recommended to use patches daily, as some of them contain a large number of silicones, petrochemicals, and preservatives: they are added to patches to speed up blood circulation and whiten the skin.

The same goes for how long the patches will be on your skin. Maximum - 15-20 minutes. We don't recommend keeping patches under the eyes longer than the specified time. It's all about their composition - the hydrogel gives off all the moisture and nutrients, and then the reverse process starts - the patches, on the contrary, suck all the moisture out of the skin. In this case, patches can even age the delicate skin under the eyes. Therefore, moderation is important in everything, including the use of beauty products.

What patches are better to choose?

It all depends on your wishes because patches come with different effects. Some patches brighten the skin, and others moisturize and smooth wrinkles. But still, it's better to choose hydrogel options, as they adhere better to the skin and create a greenhouse effect, due to which the active ingredients penetrate the skin better.

The skin must be cleansed before applying the patches. Use the usual means for washing - foam, lotion or micellar water, tonic. Next, you can massage the area around the eyes to prepare the skin for the procedure, and slightly disperse the blood and lymph, thereby enhancing the effect of the patches.

Remember that the ingredients of different patches differ, but the most common among them are hyaluronic acid, collagen, retinol, ceramides, niacinamides, with plant components and caffeine. Choose for any taste and be beautiful!
