Recently, in Chile, a group of fishermen from the city of Arica caught a giant 5-meter fish called a king herring. These silvery sea creatures live in the tropical zones of the Mediterranean, Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian oceans, can reach 11 meters in width, and weigh up to 250 kilograms. It is also called the oarfish and it is recognized as the longest bony fish in the world and listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Usually, the fish lives at a depth of up to 1000 meters. And many believe that when a royal herring floats to the surface, it necessarily signals trouble. For example in Japan, the king herring is associated with future earthquakes or tsunamis, and it is also believed that whoever finds such a fish will be cursed.
